DEATH OF MRS. FRANK GOOCH The death" angel entered the home of Mr. Gooch Friday night and called away his beloved wife. Previous to her marriage she was Miss Nannie Sluder. She was 61 years old and a good, kind and loving mother.

She was the mother of nine children. Two died in infancy, Those left to mourn her death are: Her bereaved husband and seven children--Miss Margaret Gooch, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Lillie Southerland, Mrs. Hazel Sims, Mr.

Cecil Gooch, Mrs. Vernal Cantrill, all of Mountain; Mrs. Myrtle Leach, Detroit, Mich, She also has the following brothers and sisters: Mr. James Sluder, of New Salem; Charlie Sluder, of Waynesburg; Mr. Arthur and Everet 'Sluder, of Ohio, and Mrs.

Etta Smith, of Missouri. She leaves a host of friends and relatives. She had eight grandchildren living and seven dead. She has been failing in' health for several years but was only in bed a week. We know her husband and children will miss her most of all.

Sympathy goes out to them all in their time of distress We all feel that she has gone where her dark days are over, and where she will be watching over her children and beckon them to come. She will never have heart aches and sickness again. She has had her last farewell. We don't want to think of her as dead but that she is only gone where there is no death. Funeral services were held at the home by Bro.

Jimmie 'Reynolds. He gave a wonderful talk. The songs were "Home Sweet Home," "Will the Circle Be and "Beautiful Isle of Some Where," which was suggested by her daughter Myrtle. Her remains were laid to rest at. the Pleasant Point Cemetery on Sunday afternoop, New Year's day.

The request of the fam- 4 "Senator" Brock. of Harlan, "was in our midst one day last week. Mr. Cooper Petrey and sister, Elizabeth, were in Wilmore one day recently. Messrs.

Albert Stempfly, Carl and Herman Goetz spent a' week in Cincinnati recently. Mr. and Mrs. Otto Ensslin and family, of Stanford, were recent guests of their relatives here. Mr.

and Mrs. Singleton are rejoicing over the arrival of a little son. Miss Martha Schumann is acting as nurse. The Berea students who spent Christmas with their parents and relatives here have returned to resume their class work. Miss -Elizabeth Petrey and brother, Cooper, "ers.

Simon and J. M. Petrey. Since our last report several folks have moved to their places for the new year. They are: Mrs.

Nance Mrs. Jack Miner place, and Petrey to Lancraft, place; Mr. and Mrs. Bell Huddleson, of Lexington, to Ensslin house. Mrs.

Ott Cummins suffered a severe heart attack one day last week. She shows no sign of improvement at this writing. Mr. Ott Cummins, who is guarding at the State Reformatory at Frankfort was called home to be at the bedside of his wife. The people of this vicinity were very much surprised when they learned the dauhter of Mr.

Ott Cummins, and Mr. a that 'Miss Clara Cummins, Arthur Spivey, of Crab Orchard, were united in holy wedlock. We wish them much success and happiness. Mr. H.

C. Chappell died Saturday a week ago at the home of Polly Ann He lived to reach a ripe old age. He was laid to rest in the Ephesus cemetery on Monday. Much sympathy-is felt for sister, Mrs. Nannie Harris, of this county, and others elsewhere.

Mrs. Henry Mohener, who had beef? caring for her daughter, Mrs. Martin Easman. took her bed one day last week. Then early Saturday morning she departed from this life into the beyond.

She was sixty years old. Mrs. Mohener leaves a husband, son, and daughter to mourn the loss of a good wife and mother, besides many friends. Funeral and burial took place Monday morning at 9:30 at the Catholic church and cemetery. Mrs.

Mohener had been a citizen of this community for over twenty years and: was liked by everyone. Sympathy is extended to her loved ones in their great loss. Mr. Eugene Petrey, at the age of 56, departed this life Sunday afternoon at his home in Ottenheim. Mr.

Petrey is a brother to the late George Petrey. He had a weak heart along with the flu Mr. Petrey was never married. but has a great number of nieces and nephews, along with a sister, to grieve over the loss of an uncle and brother. Miss Martha Huffman nursed Mr.

Petrey during his short illness. He was liked by all who knew him. Burial took place Tuesday morning at 10:30 in the old Petrey. burying grounds on the Arthur Gutenson place. THE OFFICIAL VOTE Franklin D.

Saturday, December 31, Mayor Joplin made the final payment on a $7,000 note which had been carried at the First-Hardin National Bank as a floating debt of the city. The note was paid off in the past six months.

The floating debt approximated 800 when the present administration came in three years ago. city is also meeting payments on its fire apparatus, which was bought on the deferred payment plan, and is retiring bonds issued some years ago on its filter plant. thousand six hundred dollars has been paid on the fire apparatus in three -Elizabethtown News.
