Danville hospital raises its rates Lunch Waynesburg family sues Orkin menu tured, distributed and applied" a highly toxic chemical called Orkil. On April 10, Orkin allegedly applied Orkil to the Mink home in Waynesburg to control termites. The Minks agreed to pay $1,018 for the service.

The Minks say in their lawsuit that Orkin and its representative in Corbln where they purchased the service failed to warn them of the risks involved to their health, failed to have a safe application method and allowed the family to come into contact with the chemical. The family said contact with Orkil caused them to spend money for medical bills and has produced physical and mental pain. They ask for $2,500 in compensatory damages and $500,000 in punitive damages. A Waynesburg family has sued the Orkin Exterminating Co. for $500,000 in Lincoln Circuit Court, claiming the company's pesticide made them sick.

Phillip B. and Deborah M. Mink andtheir children, Phillip, Bonnie and Douglas, filed the suit against Orkin. The Minks claim that Orkin "negligently designed, manufac- rooms are being raised from $165 ts $172 per day. Semi-private rooms will go up from $155 to $162 and ward room rates will be $152 per day, uplrom $145.

In addition, the charges for the use of the operating rooms and recovery room are being increased. Charges also are going up for radiology exams medical supplies and pharmaceutical items, and respiratory therapy treatments. Charges for other services, such as laboratory tests, physical therapy, pulmonary function tests, vascular laboratory tests and emergency room charges, have not been increased and are not expected to be changed during the next 12 months, Smith added. On Oct. 1 patients at Ephralm McDowell Membrlal Hospital In Danville began paying more for services, according to Thomas W.

Smith, the hospital's chief executive officer. The new charges were put Into effect because it is the start of the hospital's new fiscal year. While tbre charges of some of the hospital's ancillary services are not being changed, the total charges for a patient's stay at the hospital will be about five percent higher than under the old charge structure. Smith said. Room charges Imposed by the hospital are being increased by $7.00 per day.
