Mrs. Oscar Martfy is in the Ephraim McDowell Hospital recuperating fronf a broken hip. Her husband has been a patient at Stanford House for several months. Little Danny Jenkins, grandson of Mr.

and Mrs. Ralph Jenkins had his tonsils and adenoids and ear tubes inserted at the In and Out Patient Hospital at Somerset Monday of this week. Mrs. Minnie Gastineau, who recently suffered a broken hip, is back in Ephraim McDowell Hospital. She had recently been cared for at the home of her son, Mr.

Junior Gastineau and his wife, Vangie. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Ware and Ms. Julia Ann Peterson recently visited Mr.

and Mrs. Lonny Adington. Bro. Hugh Lee Herron, minister of the Christian Church, gave a presentation of the "Parable of the Prodigal Son" Sunday evening in lieu of the regular sermon. Bro.

Herron completely costumed in oriental garments, from sandals to turban, has given this presentation many times in churches and at youth camps. Mr. and Mrs. Coy Reynolds of South Fork, and Mr. and Mrs.

Roy Reynolds of Stanford have returned from Orlando, were they visited Mr. and Mrs. Shirley Reynolds. Coy took the March 12 issue of the I J. containing the 1912 picture of the Sweet Gum School.

He hunted up his, old friend, Bob Frisbie, who lives five miles East of Wildwood, on Route 40 near Leesburg. Mr. Frisbie, who is now 89, is a retired railroad employee and was Coy's co-worker for 20 years. He was delighted to see his picture, that of his and of his teacher, Miss Effie Young. He remember them all fondly and declared "the education I got was right there in that little school." By Julia Ann Peterson This week we salute Mrs.

Alta Bastin who celebrated her ninety-fust birthday Friday, March 27 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Marie Hannah. This lovely lady was honored with an ice cream and cake party in the afternoon. Present were Mr. and Mrs.

Ottis Hannah, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ray Hannh and their children, Stacy, Erin and Curtis of Wall town and Mrs. Rita Hannah Board of Somerset. Bastin fractured her hip Feb.

14th. She had done marvelously well and received as a birthday gift from her therapist the assurance that she was no longer a patient and could progress on her own as she feels able to assume her normal activities. Mrs. Bastin is a great reader, studies the Bible, prepares her Sunday School lesson, plans to resume church attendance school and likes to work with her hands. Mrs.

Leona Watts, Mrs. Jehava Snow and daughter Cindy visited Mrs. Watts sister, Mrs. Lucindy Eldridge at Parlor Grove Sunday afternoon. Mr.

and Mrs. Doug Ruckel and Brittany and Mr. and Mrs. Dwane' Ruckel, and baby son, Matthew spent Sunday afternoon at Cumberland Falls State Park exploring some of the trails. Mrs.

Helen Murphy returned Monday afternoon after delivering grandson, Kelley, aged 12, to his home in Milam, Ind. Kelley had spent his spring vacation with his grandmother, Mrs. Murphy, and spent two nights with grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Reynolds, of Waynesburg.

MissJHam is a graduate of Grove" City High School and the University of Kentucky. She is employed by the Fayette County Public Schools. Mr. Ketron is a graduate of Paul Blazer High -Schol and U.K. He is employed by the Department of Defense, U.S.

Government. The wedding will be 2:30 p.m. June 20 at Southland Christian Leber, Hogue to wed in May Mr. and Mrs. P.

B. Leber, Jr. of Junction City announce the engagement of their daughter, Sandra Delane Leber to Mark William Hogue the son of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Dollins of Stanford and Mr.

and Mrs. Guy Hogue of Lebanon Junction, Ky. The bride-elect is a graduate of Boyle County High School and a 1984'graduate of the University of Kentucky. She is employed by Charming Shoppes, of Louisville as a Visual Merchandise Assistant Supervisor for Fashion Bug Stores. Hogue is a 1975 gradute of Lincoln County High School and is employed at Butternut Bread in Danville, Ky.

Playforth, Ratliff to wed Mr. and Mrs, Mitchell R. Playforth of Lancaster, announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Tammy Rae Playforth to Airman First Class Robert B. Ratliff, son of Mr. and Mrs.
